NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING TO DISCUSS PROPOSED LOCAL LAW #7 0F 2018

WHEREAS, THE CITY OF RENSSELAER IS DESIROUS OF SCHEDULING A PUBLIC HEARING TO DISCUSS PROPOSED LOCAL LAW # 7 OF 2018, AND

 

WHEREAS, THE CITY OF RENSSELAER IS DESIROUS OF AMENDING SECTION 113-5 OF CHAPTER 13 OF THE CITY CHARTER AS FOLLOWS:

 

‘SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS MUST BE MADE WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS FOR THE REMOVAL OF BULK ITEMS, WHICH ARE DEFINED AS WHITE GOODS, TO INCLUDE EXCLUSIVE TO HOUSEHOLD GOODS (I.E., STOVES, FREEZERS, REFRIGERATORS, WASHERS, DRYERS, AND DISHWASHERS), HOUSEHOLD FURNISHINGS (I.E., COUCHES, CHAIRS, TABLES, RUGS, MATTRESSES, AND BOX SPRINGS) AND TIRES.

 

WHEREAS, ITEMS AND THEIR PROPOSED INDIVIDUAL CHARGES CAN BE VIEWED ON THE CITY WEBSITE OR MAY BE OBTAINED IN THE CITY CLERKS OFFICE.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, THAT A PUBLIC HEARING BE HELD ON AUGUST 15, 2018 IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE PUBLIC SPEAKING PORTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL MEETING TO DISCUSS THE RATE INCREASES.   THE PUBLIC SPEAKING PORTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL MEETING WILL BE HELD IN THE COURT ROOM IN CITY HALL, 62 WASHINGTON STREET, AND WILL COMMENCE AT 6:30PM AT SUCH TIME AND PLACE PERSONS INTERESTED IN THE ABOVE MATTER WILL BE AFFORDED AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE HEARD.

Proposed Individual Charges are listed below:

Charges are based on individual item as follows:

• small single item, chair or small end table $5.00

• propane tanks $5.00

• tires $5.00

• baby crib $5.00

• toilet $10.00

• 5x7 rugs $10.00

• door $10.00

• large single item, sofa, mattress or box spring $15.00

• large rugs, refrigerators or stoves $15.00

• kitchen table & chairs $20.00

• TV's/Computer Monitor's will have a standard charge of $30.00

• Multiple items within a measurable size of 2 feet deep, 2 feet wide, 2 foot high

$40.00; 4 foot length $100.00

• bulk within a measurable size of 4 foot deep, 4 foot wide, 4 foot high 8 foot length

$250.00

• Clean Outs $500.00

• Charges are based on size and subject to change

• Construction debris is charged based on size

All bulk (and including household items) must be broken down to 4ft., bagged or bundled.

Anything not listed above will not be picked up and a fee of $1,000.00 will be charged for

unsightly littering.

It is the property owner's responsibility to notify residents of these rules of solid waste. The

fines/fees are the responsibility of the property owner.
